With course sizes increasing and lecturers alongside with other assistance staff becoming allow go, what is likely to occur to our young children? College students were previously struggling, particularly people with particular requirements. It has been a wrestle every single 12 months to get the providers and assistance my children want from teachers b/c they are previously overwhelmed. My son's center school went from getting three counselors (a single for each and every grade degree) to two counselors, and following school 12 months (2010-2011) they will only have 1 counselor. I am even getting cases exactly where college techniques are trying to dismiss students with disabilities this kind of as Autism from becoming qualified for specific education providers. This is outrageous! If we consider advocating for our kids is difficult now, just wait until finally up coming faculty calendar year. I imagine Advocates are likely to have their fingers total.

As a former College Psychologist, I am disheartened by the way college techniques below in Georgia are mistreating focused and faithful Educator's. Salaries for some Educator's have been reduced considerably, numerous positions have been completely completed absent with (i.e., School Nurses in Clayton County General public Universities), and others have been placed in reduce amount positions (i.e., Particular Training Coordinators in Atlanta Manifeste Colleges will be placed in lecture rooms to function as Academics). Hence, existing Teacher's will no longer have employment. In addition, annually contracts for Educator's have been held back until the final moment when they had been also informed about drastic changes to their present positions. This was completed purposefully to avert Educator's from becoming able to use for work opportunities somewhere else if they were unsatisfied with the alterations produced.

Why don't we have a Teacher's union listed here in Georgia? What ever transpired to the good old-fashioned strikes? Maybe my attitude is distinct b/do I occur from California in which they have unions, personnel have legal rights, and people (parents and educators) pull together to support every other for the foreseeable future of our youngsters. This is a time when mother and father and educators need to have to work with each other, set aside our variations, stand up, and battle for what we imagine in. I know from experience that when our Educator's are not taken care of proper, our children will not be handled proper either.
