While the ongoing recession plagues our overall economy, crime rates continue to soar in response. Past studies all conclude these: unemployment and crime premiums mirror each otherâ¦they rise and fall with each other. As more and even more people become unemployed, it creates an uncomfortable situation within our communityâ¦a âcriminal breeding groundâ one might claim. The chance of being targeted as a potential victim is not any longer if, but when.
However there are things we can do to make ourselves a âHard Aim for. â What is a hard target you ask? A hard target is usually someone a criminal will pass in favor of another âeasierâ target. Inside tactical world, we telephone this easy target a âsoft target. â These soft targets generally look like someone who wonât resist, can be easily expected, and/or is not situationally alert to their surroundings. The fact is, most criminals are lazy and do not want a challenge. They are seeking an easy ambushâ¦an easy victim. So the more things we could do to âhardenâ ourselves makes us less probably a potential victim.
Among the list of easiest things we can perform is to âchange it up. â Itâs safe to speak about that people tend to follow a certain routine on a daily basis. Criminals love this. It might be leaving for work at a certain time or walking pet after dinner. The problem is not really you, but the some others out there also viewing your daily rituals. Criminalâs feed from easy prey or potential victims along with the more they can forcast, the better they as if it. The more they be informed on you, the easier it is for them to choose you as their target.
Try taking a several route to work every day or changing up when you walk your dog or choose a jog. If your employer allows it, try switching up when you go to lunch. And, always travel in pairs if this is an option. The much more you change things in place, the less likely you will be a potential victim!
Be proactive inside your community; know who is supposed to be and who doesnât. Donât be afraid to use that âcommand voiceâ you might have tucked away to trick off possible criminals. Check to assure your outside lights succeed. Criminals love the dark. Itâs these little actions you can take to make yourself a hard Target.
