  High pile rollers have longer fibers holding more paint and can create some texture in the paint finish. I would recommend you use microfibre short pile rollers, these hold more paint and give a better finish. There are three main types of pile used on paint rollers which fall into short, medium and long pile. As with rollers, paint pads are best used with water-based paint. The paint on these pictures almost reminded me of the paint used for truck spray bed liners. I always spray a primer on first then paint then I put a clear coat or two..

They are good for caned furniture and furniture with spindles etc. that are difficult to paint by hand . We are using loner furniture and the kitten is clawing up the seats of the kitchen chairs. I repainted my kitchen chairs and the paint on the chairs are not smooth or shiny at all.
  
  This house in Goring benefited from some Dulux Weathershield Masonry paint in our favoured external colour - Gardenia. Go to an auto paint supply store. Watered down paint is by far the safest option, and gives guaranteed results. Short Pile Rollers
