  There is just something about that mysterious aura that tends to surround someone who is dressed in black that attracts most people. From the beginning, it seems that all of the "bad guys" and villains were dressed in black. The guy in the black clothing was always just a little unique, not quite fitting into to society's conventional expectations. As time has continued to conquer the various trends and fashion fads that seem to glide briskly by, The black on black look has only become more popular. Although the style has borne different names over the years, the basic meaning continues to remain the same.
  
  The Gothic and alternative styles found everywhere today carry the same attraction that their predecessors carried in the past. From the black hats the cowboys wore in the old western movies to the black leather jackets in the hot rod years of the 1950's, black has always been an indicator of cool, non-conforming, and attractive. As recent as twenty years ago, the people in black concert shirts and black jackets were imagined to be the tough ones; the ones that were called the freaks. There are various levels of style that are often referred to as Gothic.
  
  The Gothic clothing style has been around for ages, and although many hate to admit it, it has always been the "in" of what was "out". With the bikers of past and present wearing black leather and chains, and the "emo" people of current day wearing the deep shades of color combined with black, it carries with it a stigma, but an attractive one for most. With things like vampire books and movies becoming more and more popular, there seems to be a large number of people who are beginning to enjoy their own "Goth" style.
  
  It isn't just the stigma that follows what is now referred to as the "Gothic style" that is attracting so many. For the most part, it is the fact that nothing is really "out". Everyone can be unique, and that unique style seems to not only be accepted, but appreciated as well. People are being viewed as individuals, with individual interests, and there is something really good about being accepted for who a person really is that draws society to the mystery of the Gothic style.
