Robert Epstein, an expert on creativity, says that if we put a Mickey Computer mouse hat and and pliers on our desk every day, our thinking will move in odd directions during everyday. These distractions, however, are great triggers of resourcefulness. Once I was researching something on the internet and I came along the phrase "something radical". For some reason, it impressed me greatly, so I wrote it down on some paper which I allowed to remain on my desk, near to my computer. Several times on a daily basis, my eyes would fall on that piece of paper and I would ponder many times the thought of "something radical". Though I have not yet produced anything so radical I can boast about, I know that my mind was encouraged to advance in radical directions to do, to try new things, to dare a bit more.

Surrounding also refers to opening up yourselves for a diverse group of interesting people. If you are continually surrounded by those people who are restrained or constricted approximately their creative abilities, you will not find appropriate encouragement and also role-models among them to help you out spark your creativity.

Finally, surrounding refers to giving yourself with frequent breaks or cracks and changes of scenery. Most experts on resourcefulness recommend "the twenty minute walk" being a very helpful aid with resting, refreshing and re-charging our brains. Once you have begun working on your creative project, taking a possibility, removing yourself from ones familiar environment, exposing yourself to a new set involving stimuli can greatly increase the flow of your creativity. Just make sure you have your recording device with you when you take ones walk, because that's perhaps once your next great idea can come!

  • Tricky. Challenging refers to help giving yourselves tough problems to resolve and trying to stretch your problem-solving capacities. For instance, it's a good idea to make it a habit to solve puzzles or games. What happens when you do that, is that new neural interconnections are built every time you undertake something unusual or especially demanding which wakes up dormant areas of the brain. It does not matter if you are able to solve the puzzle and not. In fact, frustration might be a great motivator sometimes, and you may be surprised to find out that if you make an attempt to solve the puzzle you failed at to begin with, the answer will be ready and will seem ridiculously obvious a few days later! More surprisingly, you may discover that the step to a sticky detail to your project, also comes with the answer to the dilemna. That's the way the mind works!

  • Widening. Broadening refers to exposing yourselves to the maximum amount of information as possible on diverse subjects that may not have anything to do with your creative projects and endeavors. Experts on creativity propose taking one college course a year on topics that don't directly relate to ones profession or general interests. Once again, the process of shocking the brain by exposing it to new sorts of information, by creating new nerve organs pathways for storing and processing these details greatly enhances your creative repertoire. Getting in touch using other cultures is also an ideal way of broadening your personal data base.
