Asus has officially announced that new Ultrabooks will be making it to the United States and maybe more than any of their new offerings, the big fanfare will surround the Asus UX32VD. Officially called the Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD, this ultrabook includes third generation Intel Ivy Bridge processors. For the time being, the inclusion of the Ivy Bridge processors puts these new Zenbook Prime computers ahead of its competition.

Now many of the Asus Zenbook Prime ultrabooks will have options just like most laptops when it comes to the screen, hard drive, RAM, etc.. So what else makes the Asus UX32VD so exciting? How about the option of having a 1080P IPS display on the 13 inch screen. We are talking 1920 x 1080 pixels in full HD. The screen is absolutely stunning. The color is brilliant. More pixels usually equates to a sharper screen and with the Asus UX32VD, this definitely is the case. If you are into photography, video, sharp graphics (including text), then by all means get the 1920 x 1080 option.

The Asus UX32VD also comes with an optional graphics card. The discrete Nvidia GeForce GT 620M graphics card with 1GB of onboard RAM is the perfect option if you are a gamer. Now keep in mind that the UX32VD processor speed also dictates the speed or smoothness that you get when playing PC games. With 4GB RAM, it should be able to handle the 1080P graphics but I'm always of the mind that the more RAM the better. Sure, it would be nice to have a 15 inch or 17 inch screen but I enjoy taking my laptop on the train and for me, the lighter the laptop the better. So the weight of the Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD should come in at somewhere around 3.2 pounds and battery life (non graphics intensive) should get about 6 to 7 hours.

With the Core i5, we anticipate the price may be somewhere around $1299. I would personally go for the Core i7 option. The Asus UX32VD will also feature a backlit display and three USB 3.0 ports, a memory card reader, HDMI, mini-Display Port and an audio jack. The hard drive will feature a hybrid 24GB SSD with a 500GB internal hard drive. All in all we feel that the Asus UX32VD is a great offering that is sure to entice those interested in the ultimate laptop for play or business, from photography to crystal clear spreadsheets.
