    Should ETW go with diigo or del.icio.us (or use both) - that is the question ...

    that's a fine question...

    It seems to have imported the links from delicious... we've already spent months telling people how to contribute to delicious. mmm... hate to force folks to learn a new tool, however slick it may be.

    Well, the nice thing is, it will send links to del.icio.us, but you are right about changing the posting protocol. Strangely, although I use diigo a lot, I'm still using del.icio.us too.

    I have used del.icio.us for years and just came across Diigo. I love the features of Diigo. For those of you who still go back to using del.icio.us from time to time, can you tell me what features del.icio.us has over Diigo that you go back for?

    diigo is the way to go - I recently switched back over to diigo after leaving the service a year ago - wow- the new features have won me over - good bye del.icio.us

    I'm a total delicious addict. It's been convenient, simple, and easy to share.

    During the past week or so, I've discovered Diigo, with the help of my Twittermates. Now that I've been able to import my delicious bookmarks, I think I've realized how I'll use it.

    1. I've added the Diigo toolbar to both my personal and professional machines. It will be my primary bookmarking tool. I especially like it for annotating using my tablet, as I can easily highlight and comment as I read (one of my primary reasons for liking a tablet).

    2. I've configured Diigo to write to delicious. Every bookmark I make to Diigo is CCd to delicious.

    3. I have a huge delicious network and discover tons of links from them. It's too valuable to give up. As always, I'll spend a few minutes a day checking out what my network has bookmarked.

    4. When I need a quick list of bookmarks for faculty or students, I'll continue with delicious. They're used to it, and I won't have time to retrain them until fall. It's convenient to stick with delicious for that.

    5. I've configured lijit (http://www.lijit.com/users/tbrass) to search my diigo and delicious networks, as well as any other W2.0 content I produce or read frequently. It helps me find the specific links I want quickly and easily.

    As previously pointed out, diigo bookmarks can be set to automatically set to sync with del.icio.us with no extra effort. Personally, I'm continuing to use both so that users get to choose the app that works best for them.

    Isn't it great that we've arrived at a point where we actually have to make this decision. :)

    I just want the ONE tool that does it all! Bookmark, RSS, Wiki, notebook, email....Ha! And close the door on learning? Never! I'm sure the next best social bookmarking tool is already in development.

    I vote for both also. I love bookmarking and sticky noting in diigo. I still use delicious because it seems to load faster for me. I add and edit bookmarks in diigo and all changes are synced with delicious.

    With the save to delicious option, it seems like it's feasible to run with both for a while.

    At the end of the day, I need a good place to save and share bookmarks. I don't necessarily need more internet friends.

    I'm a little concerned about diigo's interface. Delicious is just so simple and slick. However, it sounds like diigo's searching is more extensive than delicious, which is a big selling point. I'll keep one foot in each, for now.

    I JUST conducted a delicious workshop a few weeks ago. We've even made it one of our Moodle courses. I say both for a while :)

    Howdy, I'm not sure if I have earned the right to speak about EdTechTalk but...heck, why not. You can just ignore me.

    Diigo enables me to do things I couldn't use Delicious for:

    1-Bookmark, highlight and leave sticky notes in one fell swoop.

    2-Post directly to Twitter with every bookmark, enabling me to contribute to my network of followers so they can see what I'm learning. More importantly, if they want to follow more closely, they can join me on Diigo and be part of a group so that I can share WHY I'm sharing something with them.

    3-Post directly to my blog(s) without having to copy-n-paste...and email my highlights of a web page, forum conversation, whatever to the blog entry, then build my blog entry around that. Wow!

    While Diigo isn't perfect, it's way better than Delicious. Trying to go back to Delicious is like trying to shrink yourself into a pair of pants you wore when you were 18 years old and in your prime...not for any good reason except nostalgia (no, it's not a weight thing or body mass...it's a matter of growing beyond what worked).

    Delicious will certainly seem even more simple than Diigo now that we've learned to use it. When you've learned to use a complex piece of equipment, there's a rejoicing in the simple things...but after a moment's play, you realize that you can only go back after setting aside lessons learned.

    So, that's my two cents. I'm not trying to change your mind, just sharing my opinion. Thanks for reading!

    I use delicious purely for bookmarking and Diigo for highlights and community groups

    Diigo is to have interaction and delicious is purely for the prupose of bookmarks. Diigo is a place of resources. the bookmarks are just one feature of Diigo. It is just a feature for non-serious bookmarking. It is just to bookmark a few sites but Delicious is for serious bookmarking. Why is Delicious the most popular bookmarking site. It had hardly any advertising and maybe even none. There cannot be any arguing about advertising. Delicious has one purpose and so bookmarking on it is better. Diigo is like Fun Bookmarking!

    I post automatically to both, but Diigo is more powerful. I know others whose Delicious entries stopped on the day they signed up with Diigo.

    Hi Jennifer, while I have both Diigo and delicious - I have used the automatic update feature, so whenever I add something to delicious this is automatically updated in my Diigo bookmarks
