Putting fish inside your aquarium is more than planning to a pet store and picking fish since you also like them. Fish have certain classifications influenced by their personality and if you mix personalities, they do not get along and could kill the other.

    Species of fish Classifications

When preparing for researching for establishing your aquarium, you may notice that fish are classified as per their personalities. So after you get ready to commodity your aquarium, you ought to select the personality you want for your aquarium. The worst thing you're able to do is mix personality designs and then have one or more start to bully the other fish by chasing these and nipping them. That will cause the fish being bullied to become stressed and eventually stop functioning.

So consider the personality you want and stock your aquarium with these personalities.

The several types of personalities you should consider are:

    • Community Fish - These are fish that get along well amongst each other. They are not termed nippers of other fish and are generally peaceful. These fish usually are easy to keep and eat the identical types of food.

    • Semi-Aggressive Fish - These fish can be friends with each other but because they grow they are generally nippers. These are the fish May possibly in my aquarium. I tried to get them the same size so that they will grow together then one would not be larger than the others.

    • Aggressive Fish - These are fish that truly mixed with other fish, but only with fish in the same species and size.

To look at elected to have my own aquarium stocked it using semi-aggressive, I did a great deal of research in books and using the web. I made my selection and went to the pet store to get started stocking my aquarium.

I found that the information I had studied was wrong and some of the fish I wanted were classified as Community Fish or Aggressive Fish. So i had to start over and use a pet stores classification in the fish they had in stock.

I ended up with the following semi-aggressive fish that occupy different levels of the aquarium, which helps in allowing them to get along:

    • 3 Acquiring Gourami (occupies top of tank)

    • 3 Orange Gourami (takes up top of tank)

    • 7 Tiger Barbs (occupies middle of tank)

    • 2 Plecostomus (takes up bottom of tank)

    • 3 Africa Featherfin Catfish (takes up bottom of tank)

I've had these fish for countless years and they get along amongst each other famously.
