Ultra endurance events don't need to be high budget. Some teams have enormous budgets and can afford mobile homes and the like. But the experience can be had for a fraction of the cost by roughing it in the back of a transit van. In 2007 Luke cycled the entire route of the tour de France. In this article (part 4) he rides the Tour de France prologue and watches the Grand Depart.

Rarely to they urge us to seek a better life. Andy's Blog HoboTraveler does just that and his writing as a result is inspirational and very compelling.

Setting out on an adventure can be a daunting experience especially when we are travelling alone. We fear that we will be just that "alone". This is rarely the case, more often it is the people we meet and the experiences we share that form the best and stongest memories of our journey.Nathan Winters describes just such an experience of the power of connection with new people when he embarked on an amazing 4300 mile bike ride across America.

Rock climbing is unlike many sports in that the majority of it's participants are not involved in any kind of competitive activity. There is no winning or losing. So what drives us, why do we climb ? Why do we punish our bodies and endanger our lives to conquer a piece of rock ? This climbing film uses some beautiful bouldering pictures taken at Kerlouan, Northern France.

Watch out Ellen MacArthur there is a new kid in town. Jessica Watson set sail on 18 October 2009 in her bid to become the youngest person to sail solo non-stop and unassisted around the world. I have enormous respect for her already. Simply getting too the start line is an staggering feat of endurance. Reading Ellen macArthur's autobiography I was struck by just how difficult it is to launch a serious ocean going expedition. The money involved, the technical difficulties and the sheer commitment that is required to drive the project forward are mind blowing.

Has your life changed for the better after a piece of bad news? - 0 views

  • Luke Bream

Some of our best experiences often come about after something bad happens. At first we cannot see past our piece of bad luck however upon reflection it often steers us on some new and unexpected path that proves interesting, exciting and sometimes life-changing. This has bean true throughout my life and today's guest post by Grant Lingel the author of Imagine - A Vagabond Story describes a great example of this principle in action when a piece of bad news led him on a fabulous adventure through Central America.

This short film is about the "Walking the Amazon" Expedition. The expedition to walk the length of the Amazon is one of the toughest most brutal tests of human endurance that I have ever read about. Two explorers are more than 500 days into an expected 800 day adventure. These men are legends and deserve enormous respect.
