suggestion: Would it be allowed similar rich text editing in forum view? At least inserting any hyperlink.

Inserting hyperlinks into forum posts is already possible as you can see for example here and here. But it requires using HTML code, so it is not very convenient.

And text formatting is possible too by using HTML code. Of course, rich text editing similar to the way it can be done within sticky notes would be better. - Oliver S.

HI again, when this reply i had started I couldn't see yet the resolution. It would had been a really 'magick' although i haven't sent yet the reply in.situ i noticed the resolution. It would had happened also i was frightfully absent during the reading! - iplnts

I was not too exact in this post.

I meant, as ollitolli said above - allowing the reach text editing in adding a new forum post or replying to a forum post would be easier and better!

Would it be solved somehow?

I guess that Diigo stores a copy of the url as part of the indexing of each page.

Some sites - e.g. wikis, provide slightly modified urls when the person in logged in with edit rights rather than just browsing without logging in. This seems to cause Diigo treat the same page as different pages as the url is slightly different.

I would have thought it might be possible to have two solutions, but I hope the Diigo team can clarify:

1) can one use a wild card at the end of the url so that Diigo looks for the start of the url string and effectively ignores anything after the wild card.

2) can a user, moderator, group leader easily combine the material from two Diigo overlay (both dealing with the same actual page) on to one overlay OR can the two be shown at the same time?

Diigo's annotations are all url-centric. Generalizing that may be possible, but it would involve too much more complexity for limited benefits. - Wade Ren

it's a great feature of Diigo: Diigo groups.
I am wondering, why this tool for focussing on a special area of interest is not used more widely.

So I opened a group, that has its roots all over the web. This group is for cross-fertilizing and hopefully a fast growing plant, where all participants may care for and enjoy the fruits.

First of all, a general forum guideline: promotion to other groups is not appropriate here in this Diigo Community User Forum. Otherwise, we'd be faced with spam and promotions that not all Diigo users are interested. This is just common sense and good practice.

Having said that, we definitely encourage and believe in ideas exchange and better way to connect with people with like-minded interests. We highly encourage our users to create their own public groups or join others. We envision Diigo Groups as a new kind of online collaboration platform for both teams who wish to conduct private research & discussion, and people who wish to share their interesting findings and find others with common interest. So, we will be rolling out even more features to allow everyone to discover groups / people. Stay tuned.

I understand. Otherwise this forum might be swamped with announcements of new Diigo groups.

In my case, I was the first one, not yet aware of these consequences, because we have not many public groups yet.

So at least my announcement for a public Diigo group could serve as a DON'T DO IT example.

As we are all in a flow, the rules for organizing the inner structure of the Diigo community emerge on demand.

Suggestion:

What about an Announcement forum on Diigo?
Here new public groups could be announced in public.

Diigos can learn a lot from the Url-based design of FireTrail. This architecture promises to reach the level of the precursor annotation system of KaPingYee, where each WebPage can annotate each other. As a special case: Each annotation can be titled, referred to, googled, and be annotated by annother annotation. Congratulations to TrailFire for this architecture.

To both DiiGo and TrailFire programmers: please make the annotations like normal windows.
One click should make them fullsize windows, another click minimize them as appropriate.

Why is WikiAnnotation important for Online Communities? Isn't Wiki enough? Wikis allow inline annotations with normal wiki page editing? -- FridemarPache

Note: Don't confuse an AnnotationWiki with WikiAnnotation. An AnnotationWiki is a repository for annotations material, to be pasted into rich text/link annotation dialogues, whereas WikiAnnotation makes only wiki pages the targets of annotations. Of course an AnnotationWiki can be itself the target of some WikiAnnotation.

Discussion:

In this TrailFireTrail, we test the capabilities of DiiGo and TrailFire to
- annotate WikiPages (WikiAnnotation)
- annotate annotations (AnnotationAnnotation)
InteroperabilityOfDiiGoWithFireTrail would mean: it is possible to annotate
- DiiGo annotations with FireTrailAnnotations and
- FireTrailAnnotations with DiiGo annotations
It is easy to see, that DiiGo marked text (DiiGo highlighted text) can be marked by TrailFire.
The converse however doesn't appear to work yet .
To test this
(1) I took a DiiGoMarkedText in the WikiAnnotation page and copied it into the rich text TrailFireAnnotationDIalog.

(2) I DiiGoMarked [this text in brackets, but without the brackets] and looked at the result of the TrailFireAnnotation, after having edited it.

No wonder. Trailfire is so new, that DiiGo has not settled the problems.

Enlarge Space: If there are lots of people, who make annotations, the Wiki Pages will become unmanagable. By sourcing out the ThreadMode, the need for refactoring pages is reduced considerably

What happens, if there is already a highlighted text with a public annotation and annother peer will annotate it?

I see, there is a comment button for inserting additional comments. But only authors can edit their own text.
