As I drew the highlight, the button on the toolbar of Diigolet remained normal.
So: the bug (maybe in the V8 JavaScript engine used by Chromium and by Google Chrome) (maybe not in the JavaScript of Diigolet) does not occur in all circumstances.
If you can't use Safari in Mac OS X to clip what you want from a Diigo page, then you might use Prism to create a standalone application from that page.
I needed a guide to configuring a microblogging client (twhirl) to work with a StatusNet server. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I gained an answer.
As Mail.app uses WebKit, so something like this may be possible.
However: the simple act of 'filing' a message — moving it from one mailbox to another — could be enough to break the reference point upon which a highlight might rely.
I wonder how Qu-s handles references to messages that move.
