Nevermind. I have realized that if a bookmark is marked private, it does not show as already bookmarked or turn red when I view it. The public ones work.

Have you looked in the sidebar?
Try the Diigo meta view: * in most cases it will automatically scroll to position and open the first contextual note * your personal annotations are shown again in the lower part of the window.

Yes, with Diigolet. If you wish, you can hide (roll up) the toolbar whilst highlighting.
