I don't WANT "Sarah Stutzman's" sticky notes popping up on websites that I use all of the time. How do I get RID of them and anyone else's that happen to show up? They fill up the page and make it crowded and annoying. I haven't found anything "help" info to show how they can be deleted. Anyone?
If you have the diigo toolbar installed its easy. I did it last night when my facebook homepage went crazy w/ diigo balloons. Whatever the main toolbar bookmarklet is for diigo had a hide option under "this url". But I'm at work now w/o my toolbar and can't tell you specifically. Might be a hassle to get caught up on frequently visited websites like msn, etc. but its a start.
spammy. at first it was just "hey what are these balloons on my facebook?" and having diigo fun. then it turned to spam or what I'd consider as spam. I don't like to judge so it was easier to just hide it on that url.
Bless you! Those blasted balloons were driving me nuts.

You may not delete other users' content.
Other users may not delete your content.
PLEASE help Diigo team to deal with spammers by flagging them in the usual way. Many such accounts are deleted or removed. Complaining in the forum whilst ignoring previously stated advice does not help.
As usual: if you need additional help, PLEASE let us know at least:
* your browser, and version * whether you use Diigolet, or an installed version of Diigo * if installed, the version number of Diigo.
Diigo sticky notes could be extremely useful. In their current implementation, they are simply an annoyance. The only recourse is to disable ALL sticky notes in our browser, which completely defeats the purpose.
I get the impression that the Diigo writers are missing the point...
Sticky notes should be useful for pointing out interesting information to other visitors of a site, or to leave yourself helpful notes about the contents of a page. You should put them in unobtrusive areas of the page, and if they have no use to anyone else, then mark them private.
Turn on your sticky notes and take a look at what has happened to http://google.com in the last two days. Every single note on that page I would consider spam. But is anyone going to go through all 50+ messages and mark those users as spammers? Even if they did get flagged, would the Diigo writers do anything about it? They aren't "spammers" in the strict sense of the word - they're not selling anything - they're just cluttering up pages with useless comments.
Diigo sticky notes should not be some kind of instant messaging or new social email tool for off-topic discussions. If you want to get a conversation going about the content of the page, that's perfectly fine, but I'd like to know what the Diigo writers are going to do about this dilution of one of Diigo's potentially strongest features. It's turned into online vandalism, a mechanism for "tagging" a site, rather than contributing to it.
Now, to clearly state my position, I understand that "if I don't like it I can turn it off". I would simply like to submit that the sticky note functionality has the potential to be a very useful feature. Diigo should do everything they can to make it useful, and not allow it to be diluted as it has. If they don't care, or are not able to do anything about it, the feature will simply be used by the social folks for chatting about what they're going to do on the weekend, and the rest of us will simply turn it off and hope for another tool to come along someday that will serve a need that Diigo really could be serving right now.
Some suggestions: Allow sticky notes to be flagged as spam just by clicking a "spam" icon right on the sticky note. Notes that receive a high number of spam flags should be quickly removed and the poster warned. Repeat offenders should have their ability to leave "public" stickies revoked for a period of time. Peer review is the only way this will work, unless Diigo has an army of moderators scouring the web constantly looking for offenders.
UPDATE: I see that some of the original posters of the sticky notes on the google.com page have had their comments removed. That's a start, but is really a pointless gesture. All of the threads are still there because dozens of people have left subsequent messages asking how to remove the stickies!
The third paragraph of my post, which you're referring to here, was directed at the USERS of Diigo, not at the software or the writers themselves. I apologize, that was not clear in my original post.

It's not appropriate for one Diigo user to remove or delete the words of another Diigo user.
Please use the hide/show features.
If you need additional help, please let us know at least:
* your browser, and version
* whether you use Diigolet, or an installed version of Diigo
* if installed, the version number of Diigo.

Crazy with legitimate balloons, or with spam?
(If you feel that anyone is abusing Diigo service, in a spammy way, please use the 'Flag as spammer' feature.)

they are not always spam so that should not be the only option

That question was resolved.

STICKY SPAM - NEED TO RESOLVE THIS
with particular attention to http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/42468#14
and aim to continue discussion there, so that the people already involved (including someone from Diigo) do not lose track of multiple topics on the same subject.
> put them in unobtrusive areas of the page
This is unexpectedly difficult. What's unobtrusive to one viewer may be obtrusive to another. Amongst the topics tagged FAQ, please see
Considerate placement of floating sticky notes
