I've noticed over the last several weeks that tags have been disappearing from my typeahead list when using the Firefox toolbar. Today I discovered that the problem seems to be confined to the end of the alphabet, which makes me think that I've exceeded the maximum number of tags that are cached by the toolbar.
Today I noted that my tags stop working at the end of the V-s. The last tag I can get to in the toolbar is "voice." On the My Bookmarks page the last tag I can get a typeahed for is "voip." I can still get to later tags, like "xml" "xhtml" "voting", by typing in the complete tag on the My Bookmark page but there is no autocompletion for the tags that come after "voip."
I couldn't find the total number of my Diigo tags listed anywhere, but a guesstimate from my Delicious list is currently 3228.
The tags are missing in two places. 1. Whenever I open the "Bookmark" window using the toolbar. I begin typing in the "Tags" box and most of the time I get a set of autocomplete options. The tags at the end of the alphabet don't autocomplete. 2. On the "My Bookmarks" page when I search in the filter box at the top of the page. "Filter by tags, space separated"
This has only happened with Firefox 3.0.11, but I haven't tested it with any other browser. I will leave a comment here when I do.
Here are some more details I've noticed since reporting this issue.
1. On http://www.diigo.com/user/tsuomela (my bookmarks page) the problem happens in Safari and Firefox regardless of whether I'm logged in or not. 2. Since reporting the problem I've continued to lose more autocomplete options. When I reported it the toolbar and my bookmark page completed everything up to the tag "voip". Today it only goes as far as "used"
Here is a list of the 86 tags that are not autocompleting as of this post.
I notice that "My Tags" box on the right side of the My Bookmark page has 3000 listed as the limit number of tags. The tags that are missing in both the toolbar and in the typeahead box end at the exact same tag as the tags listed in this box.

To confirm, exactly where your tags not showing ? What toolbar version are you using?

So my question is why a hard limit of 3000 tags?
