Troops in war often face the issue of differentiation between friends and foes during night. In order to solve this problem, the Joint Fires Integration and Interoperability Team (JFIIT) has developed a night time identification system in order to assist soldiers to distinguish forces and avoid friendly fire. JFIIT is testing the new system at Army's National Training Center (NTC). The system does not contain any electronic circuitry and it is just based on glass. It takes away the halo effect from the light and hence assists in clear vision. The system works fine even at distances of 400m.
