It is true, for instance, that the apocalyptic scenario of Gulf Stream shut-down (leaving Europe shivering in a new ice age) is now very much out of favour among oceanographers, and that Gore was wrong to imply that the very close relationship between CO2 and temperatures during ice age cycles proves cause and effect. Ice core records actually show that changing temperatures probably precede changing greenhouse gas levels, which then act as a positive feedback - not a very reassuring conclusion.
