    Hello,
When i export all of my bookmarks from diigo to IE Bookmark format
and import my bookmarks.htm file to IE, I lose all of my tags and no directorys are created.
"The exported html file can also be imported into any browser again, with tags turned into folders"
i've just all of my 366 bookmarks in the same directory ... :(
I looked in the html file created by diigo and there'are no tags at all
but in the XML and in Netscape Format files created there are, so how can i import a XML file or Netscape Format in my IE bookmarks WITH directory??

How can i import the bookmarks of my groups to My Bookmarks on Diigo???

    Thanks for your help!

I know that there are some online bookmarking services that offer tag -> folder conversions but I personally think this is not a good idea. Tags are just too different from folders (= directories). Tags are non-hierarchical, whereas folders are. All attempts to convert tagging systems to folder systems look just like a big mess to me. It may work acceptably for small numbers of tags but with large numbers of tags it doesn't - that is in my opinion.

I guess, due to recognizing this, Diigo decided to offer exporting the tags as tags (del.icio.us/XML format, CSV format) or as something similar to tags (the keywords in Netscape format files, in the HTML code of this format the field SHORTCUTURL= is provided for that purpose). However, IE does not support keywords for its bookmarks/favorites. Therefore, tags are not exported when exporting into IE bookmark format.

In my opinion, bookmark export including tags only makes sense for systems that also offer tag-based organization of bookmarks (such as other online bookmarking services or software like Powermarks or miTaggedMarks).

I don't know the answer to your last question. I don't think it is possible yet. But it would be a nice feature to be able to add group bookmarks to one's own bookmark collection through a command in the "More Actions ..." drop-down list.

    Hi Zaguokachi,

ollitolli has good reply here. Unfortunately, there is no simple solution to this...

Your second question: we will soon provide a "copythis" function in Groups area - that will make it easy for you to copy group bookmarks back to yours.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi there

Diigo has an option to export bookmarks in "delicious" format, which I tried, but delicious cannot import the resulting file. It seems to be an xml file, yet the delicious import page says:

"Note: uploading XML, Excel files, mp3s, or anything except bookmarks files probably won't work. "

Am I missing something here? I'd like to be able to export my bookmarks and tags to delicious, so I can compare this and Diigo side by side. Exporting simply into IE format doesn't carry over the tags.

    Thanks
    Andrew
